Stuart Baker from Qa³ presented at the first Axens Seminar to be held in Scotland. Axens provide a wide range of trace contaminant removal solutions, including mercury removal adsorbents that can be placed upstream at oil and gas processing facilities.
Speaking at the one day event held at the Mercure Aberdeen Ardoe Hotel, The Qa³ presentation focussed on Sampling and Determination of Mercury Across Oil and Gas Processing Facilities. Following the Qa³ presentation, there was discussion around the importance of the correct sampling equipment, sample collection and immediate on-site analysis in order to achieve a robust and reliable data set. Other topics covered included the traceable disposal of adsorbents and decontamination and safe disposal end of life assets, with many UK sector assets now coming near to the end of their serviceable life this is fast becoming a more pressing issue for many North Sea operators.
